Bringing Heat in January

The year is off to a great start as far as music is concerned. This week three big projects dropped- Jacques, Kehlani and Migos.

Ladies FIRST.

Kehlani smoothly blends Soul and RnB on her new album titled SweetSexySavage. Opening with a poem recited by Reyna Biddy, Kehlani addresses misunderstanding, fame and growth in the industry. This sets the tone for the album which is fun and uplifting. #GirlPower

Each song has a different feel, but the beats completely fit each song like a glove.

The Bay area songstress proves that she is growing, learning and coming along in the music industry. She isn’t anxious to fall in love right now but she is not giving up on the idea of it completely.

Kehlani faced some personal struggles this past year, and she also lost one of her body guards with whom she was very close to. She did not let those things stop her and she still put out some amazing music that you can tell came from a personal place. I love the direction she is going in and I’m excited to see where her career goes from here.

Jacques was originally known as the sexy deadhead who knew how to dance and remade some of our favorite hip hop songs.

A few mixtapes later and Jacques has signed with Cash Money and has worked with artists like Chris Brown and Rich Homie Quan. Jacques has upped his game tremendously on his latest release Since You Playin’. Just a few of the features you all may know include  Quavo, Ty Dolla $ign and Tank.

I saw people on Twitter joking about a population increase after this mixtape dropped. At first listen, I instantly loved the songs- especially the remake to “Bed” which features Quavo and Ty Dolla $ign. He also has a smooth slow jam with RnB OG Tank called “Lay Ya Down.” His music caters to the ladies!

The King of Ad-libs as I like to call them, or Migos to most, have continuously dropped hot music with a flow unmatched since they first took off with their hit single “Versace.”

This album titled Culture, is thus far a masterpiece. The Migos skillfully flow through up tempo beats and have some good wordplay. As always the songs are contagious in that they are very catchy.

With features from the likes of DJ Khaled, Lil Uzi Vert, Gucci Mane, 2Chainz and Travis Scott, Culture definitely displays some major players in the rap game right now who seem to be all over the charts.
