Drake’s “Views”

April 29th Drake dropped his highly anticipated album “Views.” The Toronto native had not released an album since 2013. In one night the album sold 600,000 copies (rapdirect.net).

The young moguls 5th studio album gives us the same good ‘ol flows and metaphors, but much more singing and slow jams than previous albums and mix tapes. over half of the 20 songs are drake alone.

As most artists do, Drake’s music is evolving.

“Views” has it ALL. Not only does drake give us island beats, and samples some of the best artists from the 90s, like Brandy, Mary J and DMX, but he brings back the old feel with voicemails on several of the tracks. There are also a lot of songs that will have you in your feelings. I promise you a few times throughout I felt like Drake knew my situation. Thats what makes the album so great in my opinion, because it’s Relatable.

Drake released “Controlla”(Popcaan), “Pop Style” and “One Dance” (Wizkid & Kyla) before the album dropped. There are features from Jay Z and Kanye as well as some artists new to many of his fans including myself. The album however features a different version of “Controlla” & “Pop Style” with Drake by himself which i think are very good.
