Straight Outta Compton Movie Review

#1 in the box office this weekend!! Ranking in $56.1 million (Box Office Mojo)

The movie Straight Outta Compton was simply amazing. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! I personally did not know too much about NWA because lets face it I’m a 90s kid (Born in 95) but I did know a lot of the music from artists featured in the movie such as Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. After viewing the movie I found out so much about NWA and hip-hop as a whole. As far as Dr. Dre goes he was genius his mixing and producing skills were amazing. I did not know a lot about Eazy-E before the movie besides the fact he was a rapper and died early in life. After the movie I learned that he owned the label, he put his own money into starting the label, was a street guy and a ladies man. Ice Cube I found out wrote a great deal of the songs for NWA and was really passionate about the things he faced as a black male growing up in California. One major thing I did not know was that he left NWA because of the manager who he felt was playing them (Which in the end I guess he was). I love how they showed that Ice Cube ventured of into different avenues such as acting. One major thing that I did not know was that were also two other members of the NWA crew -DJ Yella and MC Ren. I personally loved every scene especially the very beginning as well as the bad A** performance in Detroit.

What I Loved: The fresh faces on the scene! I have seen a few of the actors in some others shows/movies, but I loved seeing new young fresh actors and actresses because I couldn’t think about them in their past roles. It seemed like each of the main characters really studied and channeled their inner NWA. This aided in an amazing biopic and it is truly the BEST biopic I personally have seen!

***I also think the timing was fitting because of all the police brutality that goes on in our country.
